S’Oak Artisan Studio

My work is shaped by the Dorset coast, where the sea, the weather and the landscape influence the forms, textures and materials I work with. I create original fine art sculptures, architectural statement pieces and sculptural installations, alongside bespoke functional works such as fire tables, water features, furniture and reclaimed oak planters.

Every piece begins long before it reaches my workshop. I hand-select aged whisky and bourbon barrels that have travelled through distilleries across Europe and America, choosing timber for its grain, patina and the story held within the wood. Each cask has already lived a full life, and I take care to preserve the marks, curves and metalwork that make it unique. Working with reclaimed materials means respecting their history, and I use traditional techniques to give oak, copper and brass a second life through both sculptural artworks and functional design.

My work explores the space between art and craftsmanship. Some pieces exist purely as sculpture, created to provoke interest, complement architecture or become a focal point within a landscape. Others combine artistic expression with practical purpose, taking the form of fire tables, water installations, furniture and other bespoke commissions. Whatever the piece, the aim is always the same: to create something original that reveals the beauty, character and history of the materials.

I enjoy collaborating with clients who want something truly individual, whether that is a fine art sculpture for a home or garden, an architectural feature, a one-of-a-kind water installation, a reclaimed oak planter or a bespoke fire table designed to become the centrepiece of a space. Every commission is crafted by hand, built to last and shaped specifically for its setting.
