Water Features
The Tidepool Basin is a handcrafted water feature created from a full‑size heritage oak barrel. Each piece begins with a reclaimed whisky or bourbon cask that has matured spirits for decades, carrying the natural grain, patina and history that make barrel oak so distinctive. The barrel is restored by hand in the Dorset workshop and engineered with an internal aquatic reservoir, a continuous recirculating fountain bell and a planting shelf that thrives on ambient moisture. The result is a sculptural water feature that brings movement, sound and atmosphere into any outdoor space.
Heritage Materials
Every Tidepool Basin starts with a structurally sound, heavyweight European or American oak cask sourced through specialist distillery merchants. These barrels are monumental timbers that have lived long lives in Scottish highland warehouses, Kentucky rickhouses or Mediterranean coastal towns. The fire toasted interior, industrial steel hoops and decades of weathering give each barrel its own character. When transformed into a water feature, the natural grain, markings and patina remain visible, allowing the history of the barrel to become part of the design.
Craftsmanship and Construction
Each water feature is engineered with a concealed reservoir and a continuous recirculating pump. The fountain bell creates a gentle, consistent flow that enhances the natural acoustic quality of the barrel. The integrated planting shelf allows mosses, ferns and moisture loving plants to thrive, creating a living micro‑ecosystem. All metalwork is hand refined in copper or brass, chosen for its durability and ability to weather beautifully outdoors.
